Here in south east New Brunswick, we are more than just an AUSTRALIAN LABRADOR BREEDER of DIVINE DOODLES. Our human, Katherine is an educator and trainer of both dogs and humans.
Even before the puppies are born, the mama relaxes to special touches or massages called “TTouch”. Katherine can feel the babies move and respond to her hands. Once the litter arrives, on day three of life, neurological stimulation starts so the brain wakes up.
Daily Work
Next, once the eyes and ears are open, come the daily challenges and learning manners. Like sitting calmly before being touched, no jumping!! No Bitting, or guarding. Alone time, crate training and potty work are all started.
A happy relaxed, well fed dog makes for a great mom that raises wonderful puppies.
Daily stimulation and new toys are as important as sunshine and fresh air.
Out door play on days that are warm enough. Lots of new things to explore.
Lots of toys, textures and noises to play with.
It is necessary to start exposure to GROOMING early. Nails are trimmed. Scissors are used. Brushing is done. Water is played with.
Learning to communicate with your pup using a CLICKER is a reward based training method that lets the pup figure out what you want to teach it. Katherine starts this with pups individually at about 4 weeks old. “It is truly rewarding to see the light bulb go on when the pup finally gets it ” Katherine says. She also shows you how to play the “TRAINING GAME”.
Human Contact
Meeting lots off different people of all ages is important for puppy SOCIALIZATION.
Picking the best pup for you.
In addition to all the notes and charts kept on each pup, TEMPERAMENT TESTING is also done on day 49 of life. I enjoy watching the results of all my work. Nature vs nurture. This helps us match up people and pup personalities. You will know what things your puppy may need help with. All pups and owners get our work book / training manual, FOR THE LOVE OF DOGS, to help you raise the best dog you can get. We start you off on the right path. Do the work, follow the book, and you will have won the dog lotto. Once you get your pup home you have just 100 days to do, see, meet and experience 100 different things in 100 different places. Pups take easily to everything at this time, then the window closes. Remember this, you get the dog you deserve!!
